Brazil: monthly unemployment rate 2017-2023
The unemployment rate in Brazil, which had already been on a rise since December 2019, soared amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In March and April 2021, this figure stood close to 15 percent. However, since May 2021, this rate has been decreasing at a rapid pace. As of November 2023, the unemployment rate stood at 7.5 percent, the lowest figure since, at least, January 2017.
