Apparent consumption refers to the country's total domestic production of a good, plus imports minus exports of such good.
According to the source, the methodology for processed plastics production was adjusted in 2019, including recycling data and dismembering information from engineering plastics. As such, figures for consumption have also been affected, and differ from those disclosed in previous versions.
