Number of MMS sent from mobile phones in Sweden 2008-2018
The number of MMS’s sent out by Swedish mobile phone users in 2018 was 510 million. This number was nearly five times higher than the MMS’s sent out a decade ago, in 2008, when they were 138 million. Swedes were sending roughly three MMS’s per individual per month that year.
MMS or SMS?
Compared to the number of SMS’sthat Swedish people sent out, MMS’s were not that popular during the evaluated period. Over three billion SMS’s were sent in 2006 and nearly 8.2 billion SMS’s in 2018. These results display the use of SMS as roughly 8.5 times as popular as the use of MMS.
Nordics
Some of the other Nordic countries reported to also have used MMS during that period. A 2017 report found that Norwegians sent out 193 million MMS’s, and Danessent 127 million in the beginning of 2018. Overall, as mobile phone usage rate increased, so did the rate of MMS and SMS in Sweden.
