Value of Medicare benefits paid in Australia FY 2014-2022, by claim type
In financial year 2022, 21 billion Australian dollars were paid for Medicare bulk billing claims in Australia. Since 2014 the value of bulk billing claims had been increasing constantly. Claims made to Medicare are made by health professionals in the form of bulk billing, by hospitals, billing agents, providers, and day surgeries through a simplified billing system, or by patients themselves.
