Syrian Army siege of Eastern Aleppo broken
Aleppo
Until Saturday, the eastern part of Syrian city Aleppo was under siege by pro-government forces. After 21 days, the deadlock was finally broken with rebel forces breaking through the lines to establish a vital aid and supply corridor for the estimated 300,000 civilians previously trapped in what is left of their once vibrant city.
During the siege it is thought that at least 235 people were killed while the already heavily strained healthcare facilities were hit by a minimum of 6 airstrikes.
