Supplementary notes

The Smart Home Hardware subsegment displays pure IoT revenues from major categories of Smart Home applications. These categories include control and connectivity devices (hubs and smart speakers), security equipment (security cameras and smoke detectors), and smart appliances (large and small household appliances). Only IoT revenues from hardware, e.g., sensors, data acquisition or processing modules or communication modules are taken into account.

The term Internet of Things (IoT) describes a network of physical and virtual devices that are able to communicate autonomously with each other using the Internet Protocol (IP).

Market values represent pure IoT revenues paid to primary vendors at manufacturer price level either directly or through distribution channels (excluding VAT). Reported market revenues include spending by consumers (B2C), enterprises (B2B) as well as governments (B2G). Revenues are allocated to the country where the money is spent.

All figures are estimates. A detailed methodology can be found in the Statista Market Outlook.
