The number of employees in the material recovery sector in Italy has increased steadily between 2016 and 2022. This figure totaled 2,487 people in 2022. CoRePla, operating in the plastic packaging recovery and recycling sector, was the leading material recovery company in Italy with a revenue of over 800 million euros.

Only includes companies with significant (statutory) turnover and a degree of specialization in the sector greater than or equal to 50 percent of the total turnover. The calculation also considers the balance of power between companies. For example, companies with too high a turnover were discarded, so that their balance sheet structure does not excessively influence the average sector indicators.
