Share of waste collected and recycled by municipalities Japan FY 2020, by material
In fiscal year 2020, paper accounted for around 23.8 percent of the total waste that was collected and recycled by municipalities in Japan. Metal followed with more than 13 percent. That year, municipalities in the country recycled approximately 6.7 million metric tons of waste in total.
