In a survey about spectator sports that was carried out in 2019 in South Korea, 27.9 percent of respondents answered that the trade or retirement of a player was the decisive factor in switching their allegiences. Overall, 21.2 percent of survey respondents replied that they had changed the team they supported, which was the highest share out of all surveyed pro sports (football, baseball, mens' and women's basketball, men's and women's volleyball).
