In 2023, 74 percent of men and 79 percent of women in Germany were most likely to give up alcohol for lent. Other products or habits Germans would abstain from during this time included sweets and smoking. The figures are based on a 2024 survey conducted in Germany regarding giving up things for lent among the population.
