In 2021, Equinix Inc. was the leading Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in the United States, having raised the most capital through green bonds. Equinix issued green bonds totaling approximately 2.33 billion U.S. dollars. Boston Properties Inc. came second in the ranking, with green bond issuance amounting to 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, followed by REIT AvalonBay Communities Inc. green bond offerings reaching 1.1 billion U.S. dollars.
