Most expensive YouTube videos sold as NFTs 2021
In May 2021, the iconic YouTube video from 2007 "Charlie Bit My Finger" sold as a non-fungible token for approximately 761 thousand U.S. dollars. In the same year, three other famous videos were sold as NFTs, with the "Nayan Cat" meme selling for around 600 thousand U.S. dollars in April 2021, after 10 years from its first YouTube appearance. In 2022, YouTube announced it was looking into new Web3 opportunities for its creators, citing NFTs as one of the possible new technologies the platform might be interested in its monetization practices.
