In 2021, 89.1 percent of the land area in the city of Tokyo was in residential use, as compared to commercial use at 6.4 percent and industrial use at 4.5 percent.
Out of its 23 special wards, Nerima had the highest share of residentially used land at 99.8 percent. The ward with the highest commercial use was Chiyoda at 86.5 percent.
