Subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services were most popular among viewers of connected TV within the European countries France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, according to a consumer insight from FreeWheel in collaboration with Happydemics: ‘Connected Viewers, All eyes on Streaming’, March 2022. SVOD was only more popular than broadcaster video-on-demand (BVOD) by a small margin, however, with BVOD's popularity having grown by nearly 13 points from the previous year. Ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) grew in popularity nearly equally as much, increasing by 12 percentage points from the year prior.
