U.S. employees represented by labor unions 1983-2022
In 2022, the number of workers who represented by unions amounted to about 16 million, an increase from 2021, but an overall decline since 1983. Employees represented by unions are not necessarily union members themselves, rather they are employed in roles where their contracts are covered by a union or similar collective bargaining agreement.
