Approximately 523,000 property crimes occurred in the United States in February. Altogether, there were nearly 8 million property crimes in 2009, including burglary, larceny theft, and motor vehicle theft. Larceny theft involves the successful or attempted taking of property from another person, it includes shoplifting, pocket-picking, purse-snatching and bicycle theft.
