The advertising industry in India has developed from small-scale businesses to one of the leading industries worldwide. In a short time, the industry managed to show tremendous growth in all domains, be it creativity, revenue generation, or employability. The industry was estimated to double in value from eight billion U.S. dollars to more than 16 billion dollars in 2020. India is one of the fastest-growing ad markets in the world. It grew by 11 percent in 2019. Despite several fluctuations in the market growth over the last decade, the industry managed to stay on a growing path .
The resilience of print advertising in India
In the last few years, print advertising has suffered a slowdown at the hands of digital marketing worldwide. Even in a globally declining market, the print media in India has managed to maintain its second position. In the financial year 2019, print advertising collected a revenue of more than 220 billion Indian rupees. Furthermore, this was estimated to reach 276 billion rupees by the fiscal year 2024. The traditional medium continues to grow in volume for many regional languages in the country. In 2018, print advertising for the Kannada language recorded an eight percent growth. Assamese and Hindi also grew considerably. However, English and Malayalam publications suffered a significant decrease that year.
