Sales values in the apparel and footwear market in the United Kingdom have increased steadily since 2012. Retail sales in the United Kingdom's footwear and apparel market are expected to reach 636.14 billion U.S. by the end of 2017, an increase of 4.98 billion euros from the level seen in 2012 .

As well as enjoying success in the United Kingdom's sports clothing market, 2016 marked an extremely positive year for the Adidas footwear division. Worldwide sales of Adidas footwear resulted in a sales value of 10.14 billion euros, an increase of 1.78 billion euros on the year before. Similar growth was displayed from 2015 to 2016, when net sales jumped from 6.66 billion euros to 8.36 billion euros.

Globally, the sports apparel market generates well over 150 billion U.S dollars in revenue. This figure is expected to reach 185 billion U.S dollars by 2020.
