The average price of Malaysian rubber reached about 1.73 U.S. dollars per kilogram in 2020. However, the price was further expected to slowly rise again up to the year 2030.
The use of rubber
Rubber can be used to produce a variety of products such as car tires, condoms, gaskets and latex mattresses. The rubber raw material is originally obtained from rubber trees. Although most of the producers today use synthetic rubber, natural rubber is still an important export material for a few countries, such as Malaysia. In 2020, about 14.2 million metric tons of synthetic rubber and 12.7 million metric tons of natural rubber has been consumed globally. Most of the natural rubber has been manufactured in Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia, while the synthetic one can be produced all over the world.
