Global LCOE in solar PV systems by key country 2019

This statistic displays the minimum and maximum levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) globally for solar photovoltaic systems as of 2019 in selected countries. At this time, Japan's current LCOE for solar was between 42 and 131 U.S. dollars per megawatt hour. In recent years, electricity prices have increased mostly due to increased transmission and distribution investments. The LCOE is calculated by using the average cost to build and operate a power plant divided by its total power output over its lifetime. It is a measure of comparison between different electricity generation methods.
