Overall, Noord-Holland was the most popular destination for international hotel guests traveling to the Netherlands in that year.

The number of hotel rooms in Amsterdam totaled roughly 40 thousand in 2020. Many of the available hotel rooms were classified as four-star, whereas approximately 3,900 were five-star hotel rooms. The sector was severely affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as is evident from the significant drop in revenue of the hotel industry in the Netherlands in 2020.

European tourists in the Netherlands

Many tourists in the Netherlands come from European countries. Noord-Holland, home to the city of Amsterdam, was the Dutch region with the highest number of European hotel arrivals in 2021. Among European hotel arrivals that year, visitors from the United Kingdom staying in hotels in the Netherlands accounted for 196 thousand hotel nights in the country.
