During the period from 2009 until 2018, the number of international air passengers in Iceland increased significantly. Passenger air traffic in Iceland reached its peak in 2018 with approximately 9.9 million international air passengers. In 2020, the amount experienced a drastic decrease amounting to about 1.4 million passengers but rose in the following years. Specifically, the international passenger traffic amounted to 7.8 million in 2023.
