Number of students enrolled in private primary schools in Malaysia 2012-2021, by type
In 2021, there were approximately 24 thousand students enrolled in private religious primary schools in Malaysia, compared to approximately 12.8 thousand students in private academic primary schools. A majority of the private religious schools are Islamic schools, such as Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR), Sekolah Agama Persendirian (SAP) and Sekolah Agama Swasta (SAS).
