Number of students enrolled in private primary schools in Malaysia 2012-2020, by type
In 2020, there were approximately 27.4 thousand students enrolled in private religious primary schools in Malaysia, compared to approximately 14.4 thousand students in private academic primary schools. A majority of the private religious schools are Islamic schools, such as the Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR), Sekolah Agama Persendirian (SAP) and the Sekolah Agama Swasta (SAS).
