In the snap parliamentary election in Greenland in April, 2021, following a fallout between the ruling government parties, the party Inuit Ataqatigiit received the highest share of votes with 36.6 percent. Since then, Mute Egede, representing the party, has been Greenland's Prime Minister. Siumut, who held the previous Prime Minister, received the second highest share of votes, amounting to 29.5 percent. Greenland officially belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark, but enjoys a high degree of autonomy.

Greenlandic Parliament (Inatsisartut) elections are held every four years. Seats in the Greenlandic Parliament (total number 31) are distributed in accordance with a method known as proportional representation. In the multi-party system, a single party normally doesn't has a chance for gaining power alone - the parties must work together and form a coalition government.
