Space tourism

Statista trend report on space tourism

Space tourism

The simple definition of space tourism is human spaceflight for recreational purposes. While the first recorded civilian spaceflight was back in the 1980s, civilian trips to the cosmos have been few and far between and are far outnumbered by missions involving professional astronauts.

The recent commercialization of space tourism means that, in theory, anyone can now travel to space. Although, in reality, this is not quite the case yet. The market is still young and in a developmental stage.

This report ultimately looks to explain what space tourism is at this early stage, who the key players are, and whether this market will blast off in the future.
