Men Trump Women in Mobile Shopping
Mobile shopping is on the rise. ComScore reported last week that 4 in 5 American smartphone users accessed retail content on the go in July. With a monthly audience of 50 million visitors Amazon reached almost every second smartphone subscriber in July, making the online retailer the number one destination for mobile shoppers. As we reported earlier, mobile shoppers are predominantly affluent, making them an interesting target for marketers and an audience no retailer should ignore.
The chart above shows the results of a uSamp survey among 1,100 Americans, aged 18 to 75, regarding their mobile shopping behaviour. It shows that men are much more likely to make mobile purchases than women are. 45 percent of male respondents have bought something on a mobile device while only 34 percent of the women polled have done so.
