A survey conducted in the United Kingdom in 2018 regarding belief in popular conspiracy theories indicated that a majority of leave voters in the Brexit referendum believed that despite the UK being a democracy, only a few people actually ran things. Leave voters were far more likely to believe in all of the conspiracy theories in this survey, although 29 percent of them didn't think any were true.
