Over 39 percent of the internet of things (IoT) patents filed in India from 2009 to 2019 had its origin in the United States. There were approximately 5,897 IoT patents filed in this time frame. Apart from these, a large number of patents were also filed under the patent cooperation treaty and a small number of patents were filed under the European patent convention.
