Peru: students affected by COVID-19 measures 2020, by level

On March 20, 2020, a national closure of schools in Peru was implemented in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak. By the first semester of the 2020/2021 school year, educational institutions still remained closed. As of August 1, 2020, more than eight million children and teenagers had been affected by the contingency measures in the Latin American country. Nearly 3.6 million of the students were enrolled in primary schools at the time, while close to 2.8 million were enrolled in secondary schools.
