In 2020, two percent of all residential and commercial premises in the United Kingdom (UK) lacked access to a decent fixed broadband connection. Northern Ireland had the highest rate of fixed broadband unavailability in rural areas, with 19 percent of premises not covered. England had the overall lowest rate with just one percent of premises unable to receive decent broadband, compared to the average in the United Kingdom, which was two percent.

The source defines decent fixed connection as download speeds of at least 10 Mbit/s, upload speeds of at least one Mbit/s and access to an indoor 4G mobile service if the connection speed available is at least two Mbit/s.
