Number of reported cases of tetanus in Ghana 2002-2022
In 2022, there were five reported cases of tetanus in Ghana, compared to the preceding year which recorded no cases. Considering the period examined, the peak of tetanus infections in the country was registered in 2016, at 1,214. Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by spores of the Clostridium tetani bacterium, and is most prevalent among babies and pregnant women.
