In 2023, most of the Brazilian software companies were either classified as micro or small, meaning they employed less than ten people or between ten and 99 people, respectively. The Latin American country counted around 133,000 employees working for software companies for an average monthly wage of roughly 836 U.S. dollars in 2021. Most staff members were based in São Paulo, and forecasts indicate that the industry is growing, and new talent is in demand.
The most famous Brazilian software company is TOTVS, holding 45.9 percent of the Brazilian enterprise resource planning market as of 2020. The company was founded in São Paulo in 1983 and later opened offices also in the United States, Portugal, and other Latin American countries. In 2021, TOTVS generated a net revenue of approximately 540 million U.S. dollars, with around 260 million U.S. dollars coming from its software services.
