* South Indian and South Pacific Ocean seasons are defined to start on July 1 of the previous year. The 2022 season therefore runs from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.

Hurricanes are tropical cyclones with a sustained wind speed of 74 miles per hour (64 knots) or more.

According to the source, figures were calculated by Colorado State University from National Hurricane Center, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center, and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center best tracks as archived in the International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship.
