As of March 2022, and since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States that led to lockdown measures in some areas, there had been over 5,500 lawsuits relating to employment violations that were a product of these measures. The state with the highest number of lawsuits filed against employers was California, totaling approximately 1,800. Texas, the second most populous state in the United States, had almost 230.
