Bitcoin miners made nearly 40 million USD more revenue in October 2022 when compared to the previous month. This was according to blockchain data that measures mining revenue for BTC specifically. Miner revenue normally consists of both block rewards, the initial reward when mining a coin, as well as future transaction fees whenever someone uses the coin you mined. As of 2022, Bitcoin is the main coin that is being created via mining - or the concept of "Proof-of-Work" or PoW - after Ethereum moved away from this. PoW is seen by many as the main reason for Bitcoin's substantial energy consumption.
