A survey conducted in December 2022 found that 74 percent of Americans think that Congressional representatives should work to compromise in the two years following the midterm elections. In the 2022 midterms, Republicans took control of the House of Representatives. This means that that the balance of power on Capitol Hill shifted, with Democrats controlling both the Senate and the Presidency.
