March madness: cost of a TV commercial 2002-2015 The statistic shows the average cost of a 30-second TV commercial during the NCAA Men's division I basketball championship game from 2003 to 2015. The championships generated 1.19 billion U.S. dollars in national TV ad revenue and 86 million U.S. dollars in digital ad revenue. According to Kantar Media, a 30-second spot cost 1.56 million U.S. dollars during the 2015 game. That same year, the average TV rating of March Madness games was seven points.
