Rail passenger traffic - Africa 2006–2019

In 2019, passengers traveled just under 22 billion passenger kilometers on railways in Africa, a marginal increase of roughly 1.7 percent compared with the previous year. The year in which Africa saw the greatest rail passenger traffic was in 2014, where numbers reached 63.5 billion passenger kilometers – approximately three times the passenger kilometers recorded in 2019.
