Number of Wendy's restaurants in the U.S. in 2018, by state

In 2018, quick service restaurant (QSR) Wendy’s operated and franchised 412 restaurants in its native U.S. state of Ohio, the majority of which were franchised. Texas also accounted for high number of restaurants, the figure amounting to 399. However, the largest proportion of units was in the state of Florida, where Wendy’s had 513 restaurants in operation in 2018.  

U.S. QSR industry: how does Wendy's hold up?  

Wendy’s accounted for a total of nearly six thousand restaurants in the United States in 2018. In that year, the company made up 4.4 percent of the total quick service restaurant listings, making it the sixth largest contributor overall. Global sandwich powerhouse, Subway, made up the largest share of the QSR listings with 18.5 percent - representing a total of nearly 25 thousand operated and franchised restaurants in the United States in 2018.

 Which age groups visit Wendy's? 

Wendy’s is a place where people of all ages like to go to eat - this is highlighted by a 2018 Statista survey presenting the share of Americans who visited Wendy’s in the past three months. During this time, the share of visitation had a similar level among all age groups. However, respondents aged between 30 and 49 years were the largest group to visit the chain, with 38.52 percent stating that they had visited Wendy’s in the past three months.
