Synthetic industrial diamond production in the U.S. 2010-2020
In 2020, some 130 million carats of synthetic industrial diamonds (also known as lab-grown diamonds) were produced in the United States through primary production. In that same year, nearly 18 million additional carats of industrial synthetic diamonds were generated through secondary production. Industrial diamonds are diamonds that are used for industrial purposes, such as for their abrasive properties, rather than as gemstones in jewelry.
