In 2018, the number of industrial robot installations increased in every region, especially in Asia/Australia, which operated over one million units. Trailing only Japan and China, South Korea was the country with the third highest installed base at 300,000 units.
The global robotics market
The worldwide operational stock of multipurpose robots worldwide reached a total of over two million units that year. The global market for industrial robots is projected to grow through 2023 at a rate of around 7.6 percent. Most of the industrial robots installed are within the automotive or electrical industries.
Asia/Australia region has highest potential
Singapore and South Korea are the countries with the largest industrial robot density. Asia is by far the biggest robot market, with China as the main driver of this growth: China’s industrial robot shipments reached an estimated 210,000 units in 2019.
