Of those surveyed, 54 percent found out through a online price comparison service, four percent directly through a supplier representative who knocked at their door.

* Base of the survey included all those with mains gas, and who have switched supplier, changed tariff with an existing supplier, compared tariff with other suppliers or compared tariff with existing supplier in past 12 months.
