* The source defines the smoking status as follows:
Daily smoker: has smoked 100+ cigarettes in lifetime and smoked at least one cigarette per day in the 30 days preceeding the survey.
Non-daily smoker: has smoked 100+ cigarettes in lifetime and smoked at least one cigarette in the 30 days preceeding the survey, but not every day.
Former smoker: has smoked 100+ cigarettes in lifetime and did not smoke at all in the 30 days preceeding the survey.
Beginner/experimenter: smoked less than one whole cigarette and had smoked in the 30 days preceeding the survey.
Past experimenter: smoked less than one whole cigarette and had not smoked in the 30 days preceeding the survey.
Puffer: Tried a few puffs but never smoked a whole cigarette.
Data is from the Canadian student tobacco, alcohol and drugs survey (CSTADS) carried out in 2016/17. The source does not specify the number of respondents.
