In 2022, the number of licensed neurosurgeons in Brazil amounted to approximately 4.15 thousand professionals, up from the 3.68 thousand specialists reported two years prior. This figure increased by around 71 percent compared to 2013, when the number of doctors authorized to practice neurosurgery in the South American country totaled about 2.43 thousand physicians. As of that year, internal medicine and pediatrics were the medical specialties with the most registered doctors in Brazil.
