Cyber information security companies in South Korea 2015-2021

In 2021, 669 companies specializing in cyber information security operated in South Korea. According to the source, 487 companies out of those were located in the capital city Seoul. Cyber security consists of products and services that aim to protect systems, software, data, and hardware from criminal access via cyber attacks. Meanwhile, there were 752 physical security companies in business that year, which provided more traditional security measures such as security personnel, video surveillance, access controls, and more.

Accordingly, security services and products are in high demand, thus leading to growing sales for the information security industry over the last years. As part of the information security sector, companies specialized in cyber information security also benefited from this trend with equally increasing sales.

Information security services are meant to prevent security breaches, and the most common type of IT security breach in South Korea was malware attacks utilizing malicious code. Among those attacks, malware aiming for data leakage was the majority. For South Koreans, who generally value their personal data safety, especially on the internet, this represents a serious threat, as the number of malware detections is on the rise.
