Cyber information security companies in South Korea 2015-2022

In 2022, 737 companies specializing in cyber information security operated in South Korea. 535 companies out of those were located in the capital city Seoul. Cyber information security consists of products and services that aim to protect systems, software, data, and hardware from criminal access via cyber attacks. Meanwhile, there were 857 physical security companies in business that year, which provided more traditional security measures such as security personnel, video surveillance, access controls, and more.

Sales of information security

In times of ongoing digitalization, as more devices get connected to the internet and information networks, security is of increasing importance for almost everyone using the internet. Accordingly, security services and products are in high demand, thus leading to growing sales for the information security industry over the last years. As part of the information security sector, companies specialized in cyber information security also benefited from this trend with equally increasing sales.

Common cyber security attacks

Information security services are meant to prevent security breaches, and the most common type of IT security breach in South Korea was malware attacks utilizing malicious code. Among those attacks, malware aiming for data leakage was the majority. For South Koreans, who generally value their personal data safety, especially on the internet, this represents a serious threat, as the number of malware detections is on the rise.
