Additionally, modern living has made life a lot faster and limited the time for cooking fresh food, which has further fuelled their popularity. In fact, Bread is widely consumed as a staple food in Croatia, and the country was ranked amongst the top 15 globally in terms of per-capita volume sales in 2018. Moreover, the rise of private label bread brands in leading supermarkets chains such as Lidl and SPAR have also augured well for the industry.

Mlinar launches first store in Finland

Croatia’s largest bakery, Mlinar, is on the road to expansion, after launching a new store in Lahti, Finland, an hour away from the capital city of Helsinki. The bakery has already launched stores in Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, and Slovenia in the past couple of years.
