Leading pet types among pet owners in China 2019-2021
In 2021, cats surpassed dogs for the first time to become the most popular pets among urban China residents. In that year, around 59.5 percent of Chinese pet owners who lived in urban households owned cats, soaring from 46 percent in the previous year. Due to stricter dog regulations in many Chinese cities, dog ownership reduced in urban China.
