European rail network usage intensity in key countries 2019
In 2019, the Netherlands and Switzerland were the countries with the highest rail network usage intensity for passenger services, at 137 and 104 trains per day per route kilometer respectively. By contrast, Austria was the country with the highest freight rail network usage, at around 25 trains per day per route kilometer.
