Buyers able to afford less than half of homes for sale U.S. 2020-2023, by generation
According to a survey conducted among over 15,000 respondents in the U.S., approximately 76 percent of homebuyers who were looking to buy a home in the next 12 months were able to afford less than 50 percent of the homes for sale as of the second quarter of 2023. This result shows that housing affordability decreased from the same period in 2022, when 77 percent of prospective home buyers could afford less than half of homes for sale.
