In 2021, the United Kingdom launched two of the largest sovereign green bonds worldwide: The largest one was worth 13.7 billion U.S. dollars. The second largest sovereign green bond issued in 2021, was by the Republic of Italy and was worth over ten billion U.S. dollars.
